For the determination we are indebted to Prof. S. Record, who examined the wood. the Herbarium material, though insufficient, seems to confirm this determination. the epecies has not been mentioned in the "Flora of Suriname", but among our indeterminatae there is sterile material (Brownsberg, tree nr. 1108, B. W. nr. 1704; tree nr. 1166, B. W. nr. 1708) evidently belonging to the same species. These Specimens, however, have not been examined by Markgraf. the nearly allied, endemic A. Woodsonianum Markgr. (see nr. 77) is distinguished by its leaves being white-puberulous beneath A. desmanthus Benth. was hitherto only known from Pará and Amazonas, according to Markgraf l. C. See also nr. 163
